GenPower technicians are forced to use the official road as far as Ozzer’s Gap in order to come along the far side of the spine to their main substation. This puts them in the way of the Trash Runner convoys when they decide to take the ‘Long Hand’ route across the wastes.
Ozzer's Gap hides a number of backdoor techs and hackers whose services can be used by those who know where to look. The majority of the wasteland is completely barren, hostile and uninhabited. Every now and again, however, there is an oasis of undiscovered scrap, a deserted settlement or the hidden bunker of some refugee hacker. The ‘Backdoor Techs’ of inworld have businesses on the wasteland walls, selling their commodities to the scum outside. When something is unobtainable elsewhere a Backdoor Tech will usually be able to pull the right strings. Sometimes the law comes down hard on them, as it does on all cyber criminals, and they need to push their operations a bit further into the wastes. Exiled hackers who have maintained connections inworld act as distributors and go-betweens to keep the Tech’s identity a secret. Doughnutters whose time outworld has taken a turn for the worse often hang around these holes, clinging to a last link with their inworld existence or pawning their gear.
